Ford O'Connell At Politico's Arena: 'Should Republicans Abandon Their White House Dreams?'

I have great respect for both Bill Kristol and George Will, but I have to side with Bill today - George Will is off his rocker and has foolishly bought wholeheartedly into the pro-Obama narrative being pushed by the media.

Here is what most people miss: Due to the dilapidated state of the economy and rising gas prices, national polls aren’t really an indicator of electoral success in 2012. Currently, the battle for the White House is down to a handful of states. If the GOP can field a nominee who can win Ohio, Florida and Virginia, President Obama will be looking for a new job come November.

Thanks to the down-ballot coattail effect, if the GOP makes a strong play for the Oval Office, the party has a better chance of winning the Senate and holding the House than if they just resort to making strategic congressional plays.
