Here is CivicForumPac Chairman Ford O’Connell’s response to “Obama’s Daley Show” in the Politico Arena:
If President Obama wants to win reelection in 2012, he knows economic growth must improve. The appointment of William Daley as chief of staff signals Obama’s understanding that he can’t let 2011 slip away like he did 2010 without a full court press on this issue. The far left may be disgruntled by the appointment, but it’s not like this segment of the electorate is going to abandon Obama in favor of the eventual GOP nominee.
While the appointment itself won’t win votes on Main Street, it could shore up support in Washington while simultaneously boosting Obama’s reelection fundraising capabilities. If the economy does improve, Obama will have a well-oiled get out the vote machine waiting to canvass the battleground states. What should concern Republicans right now is how Organizing for America is preparing for 2012, and how much money it will have to work with.
