Iowa Tea Party Founder Backs Bachmann’s Presidential Bid

This could prove to be big endorsement for Michele Bachmann’s presidential bid as we head into this weekend’s Ames Straw Poll, the Des Moines Register’s Jennifer Jacobs indicates.

The founder and chairman of the Iowa tea party, Ryan Rhodes, has endorsed tea party sympathizer Michele Bachmann for president.

Although the tea party is an amorphous movement without a national leader, the endorsement is significant because the Iowa activists could move as a bloc.

Rhodes wasn’t as politically active four years ago, but he voted for Fred Thompson at the Iowa caucuses in 2008.
