Ford O’Connell On Newt Gingrich’s 2012 Chances At Politico’s Arena

While Newt Gingrich is held in high esteem by the GOP base, he is a polarizing figure who comes with a fair amount of personal baggage. If Gingrich is able to explain why his ideas, aside from spending cuts, are relevant to a broad base of Republican primary voters, he may be able to shake up the 2012 GOP field. If not, a Gingrich candidacy may fail before it gains any traction. Should Mike Huckabee decide to enter the race, Gingrich may need to rethink his primary strategy.
